Rigid Stainless Steel Conduit (RSSC) UL 6A

Premium Rigid Metal Conduit for Extreme-Duty Protection

TSI INOX Conduits presents our industry-leading Rigid Stainless Steel Conduit (RSSC) , engineered to provide the ultimate in mechanical protection and corrosion resistance for critical electrical infrastructure. Manufactured in strict accordance with UL 6A standards, our rigid stainless steel conduit offers the thickest walls and highest impact resistance of any electrical raceway system.

Designed for environments where conduit integrity is non-negotiable—from petrochemical refineries and offshore platforms to heavy manufacturing and underground installations—TSIʼs RSSC delivers unmatched durability, grounding reliability, and long service life in the harshest conditions on earth.

Installation Guidelines

01

Threading and Cutting

All TSI RSSC is supplied with factory-cut NPT threads on both ends. Field cutting and threading should be performed using high-speed steel dies and appropriate cutting lubricants designed for stainless steel to prevent work hardening.

02

Support and Spacing

Refer to NEC Article 344 for support requirements and spacing intervals for rigid metal conduit.

03

Bending

While RSSC is rigid by nature, it can be field-bent using hydraulic or mechanical benders designed for rigid steel conduit. We recommend using our pre-fabricated elbows and bends for precise, consistent radii.

Material Grades: Choosing the Right Alloy

304

304 Stainless Steel Rigid Conduit

Our 304 stainless steel rigid conduit provides outstanding general-purpose corrosion resistance combined with excellent strength and formability. This austenitic stainless steel grade is ideal for industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and food processing environments where exposure to moderate chemicals and atmospheric moisture is expected. The 304 alloy offers a cost-effective solution for most rigid conduit applications requiring stainless steel protection.

316

316 Stainless Steel Rigid Conduit

For installations facing extreme corrosive threats, our 316 stainless steel rigid conduit delivers superior protection with its molybdenum-enhanced alloy composition. The 316 stainless steel rigid conduit excels in marine environments, chemical processing plants, pulp and paper mills, and wastewater treatment facilities where chlorides, acids, and saline conditions accelerate corrosion. When you need the highest level of pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, 316 RSSC is the definitive choice.

Premium Surface Finishing

Interior

Interior: Pickling and Passivating

Our rigorous interior treatment process removes welding scale, iron contamination, and surface impurities while promoting the formation of a passive chromium oxide layer. This enhances the interior corrosion resistance of the rigid conduit, protecting conductors from moisture ingress and maintaining a clean raceway for cable installation.

Exterior

Exterior: Polished #240 Finish

The exterior #240 polished finish provides a smooth, bright, and aesthetically pleasing surface that resists dirt adhesion and simplifies cleaning. This sanitary finish is particularly valued in pharmaceutical, food-grade, and cleanroom installations, while also enhancing the conduit's resistance to external corrosive agents.

Rigid Conduit: Heavy-Duty Applications

TSIʼs UL 6A rigid stainless steel conduit is the preferred choice for the most demanding applications, including:

Flask

Petrochemical and Refining Facilities

Protection against hydrocarbons, sour gas, and aggressive chemicals

Conveyor

Offshore Oil and Gas Platforms

Resists salt spray, high humidity, and extreme weather.

Chemical Processing Plants

Withstands acid fumes, caustic washdowns, and reactive substances

Wastewater Treatment and Pump Stations

Resists hydrogen sulfide and chlorine exposure

Heavy Industrial Manufacturing

Provides superior impact and crush resistance in high-traffic areas

Direct Burial Installations

Excellent durability for underground, encased, and embedded applications

Hazardous (Classified) Locations

Meets NEC requirements for explosion-proof and intrinsic safety systems

Food & Beverage and Pharmaceutical

Sanitary, cleanable conduit for hygienic zones

Key Benefits of TSI Rigid Stainless Steel Conduit

Maximum Mechanical Strength

The thicker walls of RSSC provide superior protection against impact, crushing, and heavy loads—making it the preferred choice for industrial floors, concrete encasement, and areas subject to physical abuse.

Superior Corrosion Resistance

Unlike galvanized carbon steel, stainless steel rigid conduit does not rely on a sacrificial coating. Its inherent alloy composition provides continuous, maintenance-free corrosion protection for decades of service.

Excellent Grounding Path

The rigid steel construction provides a reliable, low-impedance equipment grounding conductor path, meeting NEC requirements without the need for a separate grounding wire in many installations.

Standard NPT Threading

Our rigid stainless steel conduit features precision-cut NPT (National Pipe Taper) threads, ensuring secure, leak-resistant connections with standard threaded couplings, elbows, and conduit bodies.

Extended Service Life

TSI's stainless steel RSSC eliminates the lifecycle costs associated with corrosion-related failures, maintenance, and replacements—providing a true "install and forget" solution for mission-critical infrastructure.

High-Temperature Stability

Stainless steel rigid conduit maintains structural integrity at elevated temperatures, making it suitable for high-heat zones and fire-resistive applications.
